About Me

HI!

Hello and welcome to my blog, Bootstrapping It! My name is Hally and I’m a 32-year-old native of Tucson, Arizona. I’ve been living with my husband, Johnny, in New York City since 2010. I previously wrote a vegan cooking blog called The Odd Couple Eats which was active from January 2011 to April 2012. In June 2011, The Odd Couple Eats was profiled on Alicia Silverstone's site, The Kind Life, as a noteworthy blog. (So, yeah, Cher Horowitz is basically my bestie.) I had a lot of fun writing about my experiments in the kitchen during that time, but now I’ve decided to take things in a different direction.

Bootstrapping It will be a place to explore creative endeavors of all sorts, with an emphasis on writing. For more on what led me to create this site, see my inaugural post.

Some facts about me: I attended Catholic schools from the ages of four to seventeen, but now consider myself an atheist. My musical and film tastes tend to lean to the indie side, but I’ll give anything a try once. I'm currently pursuing a degree in Creative Writing at Hunter College. My favorite writers include Douglas Coupland, Wally Lamb, Chuck Palahniuk, David Sedaris, Melissa Bank, and Michael Chabon and I am always in the mood to devour a celebrity memoir. I hope to someday own a farm with Johnny and adopt one million puppies and children.

OH! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, THIS IS MY FAVORITE GIF OF ALL TIME!!!

  1. "The House in Ridgewood" is a remarkable, moving story. I truly believe Johnny's Grandfather influenced the owner of the house to extend her wonderful hospitality. It was meant to be. The posters are awesome!

  2. Thanks, Anonymous! It was so awesome to be a part of that and watch those events unfold so unexpectedly. I definitely thought it was worth writing about!
